they're like 25-cent trashy romance novels, with a bored, depressed teenage girl standing in for a bored, depressed middle-aged woman, and a vampire instead of a spy or pirate. and the first book: 498 pages, whole thing takes place in two weeks. it's like literally reading that girl's diary in the hopes that eventually something will actually happen to her.
